Wiener Kunst - Keramik, Austria was founded in 1919 and continued until 1982. Keramos comes from the Greek word "Kerameus" which literally means clay potter. Wien is Austrian for Vienna.
This lovely pair of Wien Keramos "English Sparrows", circa 1960's, are decorated in naturalistic shades of dark brown, gray, black and white with a glossy glaze. Closely resemble the style of those created by the Goebel Company. Stamped with the black shield/banner mark "Wien - Keramos - Made in Austria". There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint.
