The Tiffin Glass Company was founded in 1889 by A.J. Beatty in Tiffin, Ohio. Tiffin glass was billed as "America's Prestige Crystal" and was advertised as being "within reach of the limited budget". At one time the output of Tiffin was double that of A.H. Heisey and Cambridge. Production ceased in 1983. Vaseline or Uranium glass is a transparent yellow to yellow-green glass owing its color intensity to the uranium content. Vaseline glass became popular in the mid-19th century with its greatest popularity being from the late 1880's to the 1920's. The term Vaseline glass is based on a perceived resemblance of petroleum jelly as formulated and commercially sold at this time in history.

This beautiful Tiffin 'Stretched Glass' Pattern Vaseline stemmed tazza, circa 1900-1920, has a warm vaseline color accented with black around the rim and bottom foot. The stretch glass is iridescent with subtle colors of pink, blue and green depending upon the lighting conditions. The piece measures 4 3/4" in height, 6" across the top and 3 1/4"" across the base. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint.
