The Weller Pottery Company was established in Zanesville, Ohio, in 1882, the outgrowth of a small one-kiln cabin works Sam Weller had operated in Fultonham. In 1895 the company entered the art pottery field. Through the years it grew into one of the largest potteries in the country and was home to many renowned designers and decorators. The depression brought a slow, steady decline in sales and in 1948 the pottery was closed.
Weller Pottery introduced the Zona line in 1920 and was designed by Lorber. This is a high glaze line which encompasses a wide variety of designs and colors. They produced dinnerware, a variety of pitchers among other items. This wonderful baby mug is adorned by a darling dancing duckling on the side of the mug. It measures 2 3/4" in height and 3 3/16" across the top. Stamped with the pottery jug mark, "Weller Ware", There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint.
