P H Leonard, an importing company, was based in New York City. The company imported porcelain from Germany and Limoges during the 1890's until the years of World War I. The Leonard mark can be found on unmarked and marked white-ware blanks which were factory decorated according to designs of Leonard.
This lovely sculptured cabinet plate is transfer decorated with pastel lavender aster blossoms nestled among mint green foliage. It this then over-decorated with gold sponge-marks and heavy gold encrusted aster blossoms on leaf laden stems. The plate measures 9" across and is stamped "Limoges - PHL -France", mark #1, used from 1890-1914 and also the factory producing the plate "Limoges France" with bird logo. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; neat mint and gorgeous.
