Gabriel Burmeister was the artist, graphic designer and potter, who developed a special faience style in the beginning of the last century. The so called Gabriel Faience was inspired from the techniques produced by the old Swedish factories Rörstrand and Marieberg during the 18th century and from the stove decorations of that time. When Gabriel Burmeister in 1925 acquired a faience pottery in Timmernabben, the history of which goes back to 1859.

This decorative mid-century Gabriel pottery pitcher is constructed of red clay with cream glaze on the exterior. Decorated with a floral motif on the front in shades of brown, red, yellow and green. The reverse has an incised Swedish motto, "Bast Av Allt Ar Eget Bo Var Och En Ar Aerre Hemma". The pitcher measures 5 1/2" from handle-to-spout, 4 1/2" in height and 4 3/4" across the widest part. On the side is an original foil embossed company label; the the base is incised the Gabriel logo and "148-R". There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint.
