The D'Arcy Studio opened in 1903 in the back of an upscale jewelry store in Kalamazoo, Michigan. They became world famous for very high quality art pieces comparable to Pickard's of Chicago, Illinois. Pickard, as well as other famous Chicago decorators stole away a number of D'Arcy artists over the years. The studio was renown for their rose designs.
This beautiful D'Arcy hand painted cabinet plate is decorated with clusters of lush ripe orange/red gooseberries nestled among pastel shaded green, blue and tan leaves, linked together by dark brown branches forming a garland around the upper half of the plate. The background is gorgeous shades of yellow, blue, tan and brown. The edge is adorned with a narrow gold band. The plate measures 8 1/4" across and is stamped with the red logo stamp "D'Arcy's Hand Painted" and the number "3005", as well as "Elite - L - France in green. Artist signed "d'Valle". There are no cracks, chips, repairs. A lovely D'Arcy creation.
