A fabulous American sterling silver pepper pot, circa mid-late 1800's, with unique embossed motif. The urn-shaped pot, with pierced, pull-out top with decorative finial, stands on a square pedestal base. The body of the urn is divided into four identical panels by a narrow rib that connects a ram's head at the top with the ram's hoof on the base. Each panel contains a row of beads at the top, floral blossom in the center framed by a laurel garland, acanthus leaves and another row of beads surround the bottom. The pepper pot measures 4 1/4" in height, the base is 1 1/2" square, the weight is 2 ounces and it maintains a lovely patina. On one edge of the base is stamped "Sterling 2422". There are no splits or repairs; several minor dents in the top as reflected in several photos.
