A lovely large Staffordshire blue transfer-ware platter, circa 1850's. The center and wide border is decorated with clusters and singles of oriental peony blossoms, buds and other floral nestled among foliage, geometric designs and an Asiatic pheasant fluttering near the blossoms.
The platter is unmarked as to maker or pattern. It measures an impressive 18" in length and 14" in width. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; a shallow glaze flake appears on the under-side of the outer edge (see photo) and there is overall crazing with some staining, both of which appear darker in the photos.
