Spode china was started in 1780 by Josiah Spode I, a visionary in business and tableware. In 1829 the company was sold to the Copeland family where it remained until the mid 1960's when it merged with Royal Worcester.

This gorgeous bone china set of 4 coupe cereal bowls is the "Chelsea Garden" pattern, circa 1952-1988. The pattern consists of a multi-motif floral design with wide fluted border, mustard trim and a vivid pallet of colors for the floral designs. Three of the bowls are identical in color, the fourth has a russet/gold daisy in the smaller cluster as seen in blue (photo #3) The bowls measure 6 1/8" across, 1 3/8" in depth and are stamped in green "Spode - Bone China - England", in pink "Chelsea Garden" and in red "R9781" the pattern number. Markings will vary slightly from piece-to-piece. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint.
