Known for its use of Swarovski crystals and colored stones, as well as superior craftsmanship and attention to detail, Eisenberg & Sons was one of the most highly regarded costume jewelry manufacturers in the 1930s and '40s. The company was famous for its replicas of 18th-century fine jewelry, which appeared authentic right down to the pewter-colored metal. Eisenberg also produced stunning figurals, often set in sterling silver.
Today, collectors can recognize an authentic piece of vintage Eisenberg jewelry by its mark. The words "Eisenberg Original" were used from roughly 1935 to 1945, while just plain "Eisenberg" or "Eisenberg Ice" was used from about 1945 to 1950's. To make matters more complicated, silver pieces made from 1943 to 1948 were called "Eisenberg Sterling" and some Eisenberg pieces created between 1952 and 1970 have no trademark stamp at all.
This fabulous Eisenberg fur clip, circa 1943-1948, is the ultimate in size and design for the Eisenberg company. Large, beautiful and rather bold is will demand attention and respect as an exceptional vintage clip. The motif is a bouquet of flowers, long stems and open design leaves, crafted from sterling silver and set with amethyst crystals. The stems and leaves are decorated with round cut diamond rhinestones of various sizes. The six flowers are large, baguette cut with one pointed end, open back amethyst crystals, measuring 3/4" in length and 5/16" in width. The lighter shading of the crystals have a pinkish hue. At the base of the bouquet is a gorgeous, shield cut, open back amethyst crystal in a medium color shade, measuring 3/4" in length and 5/8" in width. The fur clip measures 4 1/2" in length and 2" in width. A stem is stamped "Eisenberg" and the clip is stamped "Sterling". There are no missing sets or metal damage, the amethyst crystals are gorgeous, a few of the smaller diamond rhinestones have darkened somewhat. Comes in original box, marked "By Eisenberg". Wonderful piece for an important collection.
