This wonderful, circa 1950's, sterling silver, bell-shaped rattle is attached to a white celluloid teething ring by a detailed strap and buckle design. The front of the bell has a detailed round clock face with Roman numerals; clock hands can be engraved to record the exact time of the blessed event. Below the clock is embossed "Birth Record", "Month - Year - Pounds -Ounces" with blank space to engrave the information. The back side is blank to engrave an inscription or name. The top of the back is stamped Sterling with the hallmark for the Webster Company of Attleboro Massachusetts, organized in 1894, which became a subsidiary of Reed & Barton in 1950.
The bell and teething ring measures 3" in length, with the teething ring measuring 1 3/4" across. Wonderful condition with original patina. What a lovely and timely way to record the birth of your next child, grandchild or baby of a friend.
