Rosemeade Pottery of Wahpeton, North Dakota, worked from 1940 to 1961. The pottery was operated by Laura A. Taylor and her husband, R.I. Hughes. The company was also known as the Wahpeton Pottery Company. Art pottery and commercial wares were made. Taylor created realistic pottery animals, including birds and fish, which were hand-painted with vivid colors.
Of the various salt & pepper shaker sets that were made, this wonderful pair of Bison is rare and difficult to find. Great detailing with a rich brown high glaze. The Bison measure 2 3/4" in length, 2 1/2" in height and 1" across. One has the original green, pink and gold foil label marked "Rosemeade No. Dak." There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
