The Heintz Art Metal Shop used the letters HAMS in a diamond as a mark. Otto Heintz (1875-1918) took over the Arts & Crafts Company in Buffalo, New York, in 1903. By 1906 it had become the Heintz Art Metal Shop. It remained in business until 1930. The company made ashtrays, bookends, boxes, bowls, desk sets, vases, trophies, and smoking sets of bronze with the silver decoration applied by a process patented in 1912. The best-known pieces are made of copper, brass, and bronze with silver.
This wonderful Document Clip is one item from a seven piece complete desk set being offered in my store. A simple, yet elegant, Art Nouveau motif of four petal flowers on long flowing stems. The clip measures 3 1/2" in length and tapers from 2" to 1 1/2" in width. It is not stamped with the Heintz logo, but is part of the complete set being offered. Great vintage condition with no damages and original patina. This would make a wonderful gift for the collector and a great desk accessory for a well appointed office.
