This lovely ironstone brown transfer-ware covered vegetable tureen is the "Tournay" pattern, circa 1885. The aesthetic movement design consists of bell flower floral, leaves, scrolls and geometric forms. The tureen measures 11 1/2" in length from handle-to-handle, 6 1/2" in width and 5" in height. Stamped with the "Royal Arms Insignia - Royal Premium - T & R Boote - England" and English Register number "33645" indicating circa 1885 and "Trademark - Tournay"; also "20" and blurred impressed number 30173. There are no cracks, or repairs; some very light crazing. Great brown transfer-ware pattern.
