The McKee & Brothers Glass Company was founded in 1834 by H. McKee and James Chambers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1903 the name was changed to the McKee Glass Company was moved to Jeannette, Pennsylvania. It became McKee Division of the Thatcher Glass Co. in 1951 and was bought out by the Jeannette Corporation in 1961. McKee & Brothers was one of the best-known producers of clear pressed glass.
This lovely EAPG bread tray is the "Deer & Pine" pattern, also known as Deer & Pine Tree and Deer & Doe, circa 1885. At each end of the tray is an embossed buck deer and doe standing beneath a pine tree. The center and edge is decorated with a faceted diamond design. The tray measures 13" in length and 7 3/4" in width, with no cracks, chips or repairs. Great early pattern.
