The Jefferson Glass Company was in existence from 1900 - 1933, first in Steubenville, Ohio and after 1907 in Follansbee, West Virginia. Opalescent patterns were only made during the 1901 - 1907 time-frame.
This "Diamond & Thumbprint" blue opalescent swung vase was produced during the 1900-1906 period. A "swung" vase is made by pressing glass into a mold, reheating it and swinging it from the end of the rod until the neck gets longer and longer. The mouth of the vase is then tooled and polished and sometimes flared or ruffled. The vase measures 12" in height, 4 1/4" across the top and 3 1/2" across the base. There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
