Hand painted porcelain expresses the emotional connection between the artist and subject. This lovely hand painted cabinet plate was manufactured and painted in the factory's decorating department. It is stamped in green "Imperial PSL Empire II Austria", for the Pfeiffer & Lowenstein Factory of Schlackenwerth, Bohemia, Austria and in gold "Imperial Austria Handpainted" for the company's decorating department.
The Art Nouveau style plate, circa 1915, is decorated with a huge orange and yellow poppy flower and buds on long stems with large shaded green leaves. Also included is an extended branch covered with variegated pastel blue and white daisies and a cluster of separate unopened buds in shades of soft gray and yellow. The rim is adored with a wide band of gold gilt. The plate measures 9 3/4" across with no cracks, chips or repairs; minor gold wear on the edge.
The beautiful pansy floral forms a wide border around this footed nappy with a gold trimmed edge and ball feet. The pansies consists of solid and variegated shades of soft yellow, purple, blue and rose with black beards and highlights with white eyes, creating a border of delicate faces staring at you. Soft green sprigs of leaves separate the blossoms and decorate the center of the nappy. The nappy measures 7 1/4" across and 1 1/2' in height. It is stamped in green "Imperial PSL Austria", for the Pfeiffer & Lowenstein Factory of Schlackenwerth, Bohemia, Austria, circa 1915. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint. Lovey.
