The Jefferson Glass Company was in existence from 1900 - 1933, first in Steubenville, Ohio and after 1907 in Follansbee, West Virginia. Opalescent patterns were only made during the 1901 - 1907 time-frame.
This gorgeous green opalescent bowl is the "Swirling Maze" pattern, circa 1903. It has been reported that the Fenton Glass Company may have reintroduced this pattern after 1910. The pattern was produced in white, blue, green, canary and cranberry colors. The pattern is as the name implies, a swirling maze of opalescence within the body of the piece. This JIP shape round bowl has the turned-up back and turned-down front with wide crimped rim, lovely green color combined with the white opalescence. The bowl measures 9 1/4" across and 3 1/2" in height on the turned-up side. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint.
