Opalescent glass has been widely accepted since its inception in the 1880's. The major production covered 40 years (1880 - 1920) by famous American and European glass houses.
This attractive "Beaded Drapes" pattern, circa 1905, is from the Northwood Company. The gently scalloped bowl with crimped outer rim is decorated with rows of tiny beads in the form of swag drapery and rest on four feet. The body of the bowl is blue with the opalescence appearing in the crimped border. It was produced in blue, green, white and vaseline. The bowl measures 8" across and 2 3/4" in height. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint. Great pattern and color.
