The carnival glass of interest to most collectors is an iridized pressed glass that was produced from shortly after the turn of the century into the late 1920's. Starting in 1907, the Fenton Art Glass Company became the first company to produce this type of glass and became one of the leading producers.
This lovely marigold carnival ruffled bowl is the "Dragon & Lotus" pattern. Probably one of the best known of all carnival patterns and a favorite of Fenton collectors. The base is a floral design framed within squiggly lines extending to the outer border displaying cartouches containing individual lotus blossoms and dragons. The gently ruffled bowl has a a saw-tooth edge and smooth exterior. The bowl has gorgeous iridescent shades of rich marigold with rose and blue highlights. The ruffled bowl measures 9" across and 2 3/8" in height. There are no cracks or repairs; one saw-tooth has a tiny chip (see photo).
