Hand painted china is so beautiful and decorative no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or home-studio environment. The quality and subject matter of the finished product is what really matters.
This lovely round covered jewelry/dresser jar, circa 1910 and hand painted in a home-studio, is decorated with three large rose blossoms in variegated vivid pink to white nestled among shaded green leaves against a muted background of brown, rose/brown and pastel green. The base is a rich brown at the base shading to pastel green at the top. The interior of both pieces is a pale pastel blue. The jar measures 8" across and 3 5/8" in height. The mark in green is that of the William Guerin Co., circa 1891-1932. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; there are five tiny porcelain/paint nicks along the top outer edge of the base (see photo for example).
