Pickard, Inc., the premier Chicago decorating studio was founded by Wilder A. Pickard, who was born on a farm near Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. His first studio was located in Edgerton, Wisconsin, and soon was relocated to Chicago where it still exists today. The largest and most famous decorating Chicago studio, Pickard attracted the best of the best artists of the time.

This fabulous hand painted shallow bowl, circa 1905-1910, is decorated with a naturalistic motif of almonds, filberts, walnuts and vegetation in variegated shades of tan, medium to dark brown and olive/brown against a background of creamy tan. The sculptured, square shaped bowl, with open wreath corners and embossed border is delicately decorated with gold gilt.

The bowl measures 10" across and is stamped in green "Limoges France". It is marked with the Pickard Mark #5, brown decal, circa 1905-1910, which was the first mark used at the Ravenswood Studio. It is signed "Keates", for Alfred Keates, who worked for Pickard from 1903-1910. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint condition. Beautiful piece.
