A fantastic, as well as unique and rare, set consisting of a salt, pepper & spice shakers with holder, circa 1940's. The sterling silver filigree holder has an elegant Art Nouveau look with individual compartments for the shakers, graceful handles and tiny ball feet. The three individual shakers, with sterling silver tops, are cut crystal with a wide decorative band in a celtic knot motif.
The holder measures 5 3/4" in length, 1 7/8" in height, 1 5/8" in width and is stamped with the Wilcox Sterling logo "WW over script S. woven through) and "Sterling - 16 1/2". The company was know as the Wilcox Silver Plate Company, founded by Jedediah & Horace Wilcox in 1865 in Meriden, CT. which later became a division of International Silver in 1898. They made primarily silver plate items, but did produce some sterling silver hollow-ware in the mid-20th century. The heavy cut crystal shakers measure 3" in height. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; wonderful original sterling patina.
