Hand painted china is so beautiful and decorative no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or home-studio environment. The quality and subject matter of the finished product is what really matters.
This lovely round covered dresser/jewelry box, circa 1900, is covered with clusters of hand painted wild rose blossoms in vivid shades of rose to white and green to white, nestled among green and crimson foliage against a variegated background of dusty rose, mint green and pale blue. The clusters are connected with thorn covered stems of green and crimson. The rim of the lid and rim and base of the bottom is decorated with a band of gold.
The box measures 7" across and 3 1/2" in height. Marked in green on the base "T&V - Limoges - France" which designates the Tressemann & Vogt, mark used from 1892-1907. There are no cracks or repairs; a small flake on the inside rim of the top and a tiny nick on the rim of the base, both insignificant. A lovely size and motif covered box for dresser or vanity.
