A wonderful Bennington or Rockingham cuspidor, circa 1850, with medium brown tobacco glaze over yellow-ware base. The unique shell-shaped man's cuspidor measures 9" in length, 8" in width and 4" in height with pour spout at one end. The top is a shell formation that slopes inward to the intake opening. The round base has smooth sides. The overall condition is excellent with no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint. A scarce and desirable form with beautiful glaze.
