Nippon Moriage Hand Painted Tri-Fold Bowl w/Country Lake Side Motif - image 1 of 5

Nippon generally refers to Japanese wares made during the period of 1891 to 1921. Nippon, meaning Japan, identified the country of origin to comply with American importation restrictions.

This lovely hand painted Nippon bowl features a quiet, country, lake side motif of a house, trees, lake and gorgeous sunset in a pallet of vivid shades of gold, brown, green, blue, gray, pink and rose/red. The three handles and rim is decorated with a delicate moriage design. The bowl measures 6 1/2" across, 1 3/8" in depth and is faintly marked in green with the Nippon #47 mark, consisting of an "M" within a wreath and "Hand Painted Nippon". The M stands for the importer, Morimura Bros. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; some minor wear on rim. Fantastic design and color pallet.
