The Chikaramachi - Made in Japan back-stamp was used by the Noritake Porcelain Company on items manufactured by its' branch on Chikarmachi Street, Nagoya, Japan, circa 1928-1946. The company mark, in red or black, was a crown inside a wreath.
This lovely hand painted celery/relish tray, with cut-in handles, features a scenic country motif of a quiet steam, trees and a group of buildings on the horizon in a pallet of vivid shades of gold lustre, crimson, gold, violet, tan, green, yellow and black. The tray measures 12 1/4" in length, 5 1/4" in width and is stamped in red with the company logo and "Chikaramachi - Hand Painted - Made in Japan". There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
