Mid-Nineteenth Century Hand Painted Handle-less Cup & Bowl Saucer - Floral Motif - image 1 of 7

This lovely handle-less cup and bowl saucer set, circa 1840, is probably English in origin. Both pieces are hand painted with a floral motif of roses, violets, delicate tracery and leafage in shades of pink and shaded purple. Each has a wide internal band of the motif and bouquet in the center; the cup has fern leaves around the exterior.

The cup measures 2 1/2" in height and 3 1/2" across the top; the saucer bowl, for cooling your tea, measures 5 1/2" across and 1 1/4" in depth. Unmarked as to the maker. There are no chips, cracks or repairs; near mint. Beautiful.
