Set of 3 Early English Polychrome Cups and Bowl Saucers, circa 1820-1840. The pieces are decorated in a beautiful chinoiserie floral pattern consisting of various flowers in urns, garden scenes and cartouches. The design, in over-glaze enamels over the under-glaze transfers, is presented in a pallet of vivid shades of blue, red, green, purple, yellow, pink and violet. The cups have the famous 'London' handle.
The cups measure 2 1/2" in height and 3 1/2" across the top; the saucer bowls, for cooling your tea, measure 5 1/2" across and 1 3/8" in depth. Each are marked with a number that denotes the decorator. There are no chips or repairs; hairline in bowl of one cup (see photo); some light stains on interior of cups. A gorgeous set.
