Hand painted china is beautiful and unique as it portrays the artists emotions and visions for the subject he or she is creating. This beautiful hand painted cabinet plate was created in a small home studio environment by a very talented individual with great attention to detail and subject naturalism. It is part of a collection by a contemporary artist, circa 1960-1980, that is as good as the professional decorating studios of the early 1900's. The pieces are on unmarked porcelain blanks and are either signed "C Baver", "C B" or some are unsigned.
This lovely covered dresser/trinket box portrays a quiet country scene of a flowing stream, tree lined banks and hazy mountains in the far distance. The pallet of soft pastel blue, green, gray and pink along with darker shades of green and gray create a sense of peaceful solitude. The sky and base is light mottled blue/gray. The oval box measures 4 5/8" in length, 3" across and 2" in height, with no cracks, chips or repairs. It is artist signed "C B" on the lid.
