Hand painted china is beautiful and unique as it portrays the artists emotions and visions for the subject he or she is creating. This beautiful hand painted cabinet plate was created in a small home studio environment by a very talented individual with great attention to detail and subject naturalism. It is part of a collection by a contemporary artist, circa 1960-1980, that is as good as the professional decorating studios of the early 1900's. The pieces are on unmarked porcelain blanks and are either signed "C Baver", "C B" or some are unsigned.
This darling covered dresser/trinket box portrays a lone baby lamb in a meadow at dusk staring at a single bright star in the sky. The shaded white and gray lamb, green meadow grasses and several lone trees present a sense of calm and safety with the bright star against the darkened blue sky and mottled blue/gray base. The round box measures 3 7/8" across and 1 1/2" in height, with no cracks, chips or repairs. It is artist signed "C B" on the underside.
