J.H.Stouffer Company, Chicago, was founded in 1905 and continued in business until 1952. Known as a premier china decorating establishment during the era of the other great Chicago decorating studios. Jacob H. Stouffer was the seventh of nine children, born in the village of Adeline in North Central, Illinois.
This beautiful trophy-shaped white porcelain vase is decorated with dark blue grapes suspended from gold vines and leafage with black highlights. The top and base edges and handles are also gold encrusted. The vase measures 6 1/2" in height, 2 5/8" across the top and 2 3/4" across the base. Artist signed in gold "O Podl" and stamped with the Mark #13 in gold "Stouffer Fine China" circa 1938-1946. There are no cracks, chips, repairs or wear. Near mint condition.
