Hand painted porcelain is so beautiful no matter if done in a factory, professional decorating studio or a small home studio environment. The overall quality of the piece is what really matters.
This gorgeous charger plate, circa 1900, was executed in either professional decorating studio or a small home-studio environment by an accomplished artist. The blank is decorated with clusters of lush ripe currants nestled among leaf covered vines in autumn shades of variegated light-to-dark green, golden yellow and pastel gray. The background hues are a pleasant mix of soft yellow and light blue. The edge is enhanced with gold. The charger measures 12 1/4" across and is in near mint condition with no cracks, chips or repairs. Signed on the front by the artist "Steve". Stamped in green "B & Co - France", which is the mark for Bernardaud & Company, circa 1900-1914. Gorgeous.
