The Trent Tile Company, Trenton, New Jersey, operating from 1882-1939, was an early prolific pottery that produced outstanding dust-pressed, high glaze tiles for fireplaces, stoves and architectural purposes. This wonderful majolica glazed circular portrait tile, circa 1882-1890's was made for a parlor or cook stove ornamentation. The relief portrait depicts a Victorian Lad. The butterscotch glaze and intricate detailing brings this character to life. The tiles measure 3 1/8" across and would have been mounted in a brass ring attached to the stove. Both are marked on the back in raised letters "Trent". Both are in very good vintage condition with minor glaze nicks around the edge of the portraits and normal crazing. Beautiful Victorian image. Prices individually, the pair can be purchased for $325.00
