Founded in 1895 in Chicago, Illinois, the Pickard China Company rapidly became one of the premier decorating companies in the country. Originally importing blanks from foreign manufacturers until 1938 when they developed their own translucent china.
This lovely hand painted cabinet plate is decorated with a wild violets motif. The delicate variegated purple blossoms are nestled among shaded pastel green and tan tinged leaves with hints of pale green and lavender highlights against the white blank. The gently scalloped edge is trimmed with gold. The plate measures 8 1/2" across and is marked with the round brown decal mark, circa 1905-1910, "W A Pickard - Handpainted China". It is faintly signed "Half" by the artist. The porcelain stamp "J & C" designates Jaeger & Co. Bavaria, circa 1898-1923. There are no cracks, chips or repairs
