A bedside carafe is also known as a tumble-up on today’s market. The word "carafe" is derived from Arabic "gharrafa," meaning a drinking vessel. Glass bedside carafes are exquisite night stand decanters. The lid on this type of carafes doubles as a drinking glass.
This lovely European faceted amber glass tumble up, circa 1930s, consists of eight smooth faceted panels on both the decanter and tumbler. The Art Deco shape, thought unmarked, is attributed to the Moser Glass Company. The decanter stands 6 1/4"" in height and 3 1/2" across the widest part; the tumbler measures 3" in height and 2" across. There are no cracks or repairs; there are several tiny nicks on one faceted edge of the tumbler (see photo).
