The Noritake Company was first registered in 1904 as Nippon Gomei Kaisha. In 1917 the name became Nippon Toki Kabushiki Toki. The "M in Wreath" mark is that of the Morimura Brothers, distributors with offices in New York. It was registered in 1918 and used from the early 1920's through 1941.
This lovely and colorful serving Plate, circa 1930's, has a center completely decorated with a scenic country motif depicting a tranquil lake with green, grassy shoreline and huge white birch tree in the foreground with rolling purple and grayish hills and a cloudless pastel blue sky in the background. A lone duck gently glides toward a landing on the lake. The black outer border is decorated with gold handles and geometric designs. The plate measures 10" across, 10 1/2" from handle-to-handle. It is marked in green "Noritake - M - Hand Painted - Made in Japan". There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Outstanding design and color pallet
