A wonderful hand painted portrait plate of beautiful German or French noble lady, circa 1870-1890. The profile portrait captures the lady's beautiful fair complexion, pink cheeks, rosy lips, blue eyes and medium brown slightly curly with long roll extending down her back. She is attired in an elegant tan and gold brocade cloche helmet hat and crimson jacket with white collar and sleeves. The background color for the portrait is black and unfortunately the piece is unsigned by the artist. The porcelain blank is saucer-shaped, unmarked as to manufacturer and measures 4 1/2" across. The repousse brass frame has wide band of mythological figures, including Neptune, God of the Sea, along with other sea creatures and vegetation, as well as several bands of embossed rope, beads and scroll designs.. The frame measures 12" across and has an attached ring for hanging. There are no cracks, chips, or repairs; one tiny paint flake in the background along the back edge of her hat.
