Nippon generally refers to Japanese wares made during the period of 1891 - 1921. Nippon, meaning Japan, identified the country of origin to comply with American importation restrictions.

This beautiful Royal Nishiki Nippon vase portrays a scenic rural Holland motif. The vase is surrounded by ladies attired in traditional Dutch garments, walking through fields of blooming tulips. One lady holds a basket filled with the special floral cargo. In the background are various buildings, trees and a wind-mill against a billowing cloud laden sky. The base and top rim are decorated with a geometric arts and crafts design. The color pallet includes various shades of blue, lavender, yellow, red, burgundy, black, white and green. The vase measures 7 1/8" in height and 4 1/2" across the widest point. It is stamped in black with the Globe Logo and "Royal NIshiki Nippon - 17/5022/3". The company made items for the domestic Japanese market from 1906-1921. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint. A very unique motif for Japanese ware.
