A gorgeous hand painted PL Limoges pin tray created by a talented artist in a home-studio environment, circa 1910. The scenic tray portrays a beautiful young lady tending a flock of sheep in the countryside. The Sheppard, attired in long dress and bonnet, is seated on a log in the foreground with six or more sheep clustered together under a row of trees in the background. The entire tray is executed in shades of green with the exception of some pastel pink hues in the trees.
The tray measures 4 3/8" in width, 6 1/8" in length and is initialed and dated by the artist "D.H.S. 1911". It is stamped on the back "PL - Limoges - France", designating the LaPorcelaine factory. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint. Very unusual and unique motif.
