A. Klingenberg was an accomplished Limoges artisan painter when he opened his own porcelain factory and decorating studio in the Limoges region of France in the early 1880's. There does not seem to be a surfeit of information about Klingenberg or his company other than that he merged with Charles Dwenger's studio sometime in the late 1890's or very early 1900's. Klingenberg & Dwenger together manufactured porcelain products, produced decorated finished porcelain pieces, and exported them world-wide until 1910 when the company closed its doors.
This beautiful hand painted footed bowl was created by a talented artist in the company decorating studio or in a small home-studio environment, circa 1900. The bowl is completed decorated with clusters of lush red and purple raspberries and white blossoms nestled among leaf covered branches in variegated autumn shades of green, brown and golden yellow against a soft pastel creamy background. The round bowl rests on three gold encrusted scroll feet as well as a gently scalloped gold decorated rim.
The bowl measures 7 1/2" across and 2 7/8" in height. It is stamped "AKD France", representing the A Klingenberg & Charles Dwenger factory which operated from 1890 - 1910. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint condition.
