A fantastic Sterling Silver Repousse Brooch created in Gibson Girl image, circa 1900. Beautiful dignified facial features, up-swept hair style, round neckline gown and her chin pensively resting on her right hand, against an oval wreath background decorated with flower blossoms. The quality and styling is in the style of the Unger Brothers noted for their Art Nouveau jewelry designs.
The brooch has an attached flat back-plate which hold the old style "C" clasp and pin mechanism. The piece is stamped "Sterling" along with addition letters that are partially obscured by a foreign glue substance on a portion of the upper back of the brooch. I have not attempted to remove this as it does not impact the front of the brooch in any way; it can be removed professionally by a jeweler. (see photos). The brooch measured 2 1/4" in length and 1 3/4" in width. There are no damages and the piece maintains a nice patina.
