Victor Primavera Sr., founded the Danecraft company, Providence, Rhode Island, is the 1940's. Danecraft is known for producing quality sterling silver and vermeil (gold metal over sterling) jewelry with designs similar to the Scandinavian silver jewelry and often inspired by nature. It is said, that the Danecraft sterling silver jewelry produced, was some of the best manufactured in terms of quality of design and craftsmanship the industry had to offer during post-war decades.
This lovely 3-dimensional and open work, circa 1950's, has a clean, modern appearance. Two narrow leaves, one smooth the other textured wrap around a long spike of unopened floral buds. The brooch measures 2 5/8" in length, 1 1/4" in width and has a safety clasp mechanism. Stamped within an oval cartouche "Sterling (R) Danecraft". There are no damages; nice patina.
