This lovely jewelry casket/dresser box in quadruple plate has a wonderful Art Nouveau motif embossed on the hinged lid. The motif consist of a young girl standing near the top of a long, elegant staircase, being serenaded by a young boy suitor playing a mandolin. The pair are surrounded by graceful scrolls and large rose blossoms. The box measures 6 1/4" in length, 5 1/4" in width, 3" in height and rest on four knob feet. The central cartouche on the lid is monogrammed with the initials of the original owner. There are no metal issues; wonderful original patina; the original lining is quite worn. Stamped with a circular mark showing the head of an eagle or hawk and "Forbes Silver Co - Quadruple" and "34".
