Hand painted china is so beautiful and decorative no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or home-studio environment. The quality and subject matter of the finished product is what really matters. This piece was executed in a home-studio environment on a white-ware blank.
This lovely round covered dresser/jewelry box, circa 1900, is covered with hand painted rose blossoms in rich, variegated shades of golden yellow with brownish highlights, nestled among shaded green and tan foliage, against a soft creamy yellow background gently fading into a rich chocolate brown.
The box measures 7" across and 4" in height. Stamped in light green on the base with one Lion, "T", "1794" and "Royal Bayreuth - Bavaria". Note that Bavaria is printed upside-down. This mark was used from 1885-1902 when it was replaced with marks showing two lions. The artist signature "L. Bowermaster" appears on the base. There are no cracks, chips or repairs;some no harm paint wear on rims of top and base; near mint condition. A lovely size and motif covered box for dresser or vanity.
