Nippon generally refers to Japanese wares made during the period of 1891 to 1921. Nippon, meaning Japan, identified the country of origin to comply with American importation restrictions.
This lovely hand painted Nippon dresser/vanity set is decorated with a continuous gold laurel garland surrounding each piece as well as gold bands, feet and trim and a wide band of pastel blue contrasting with the white blank and gold decoration. Pieces are marked in green with the Nippon "Rising Sun" mark. There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
The rectangular shaped tray measures 10 1/4" in length and 7" in width.
The covered hair receiver measures 3 1/2" across and 2 3/4" in height.
The covered powder jar measures 3 1/2" across and 2 3/4" in height.
The compote pin holder measures 3 7/8" across and 2 1/8" in height.
