Beautiful Victorian Era oil painting on rectangular wood panel. This artwork was probably created by amateur artist, circa 1880-1900. The scene is captivating with intricate details and features. The scene portrays a country castle or manor house framed by lush leaf covered trees which cast shadows on the lake or stream flowing in the foreground. Along the shore an individual is feeding ducks bobbing in the water as two separate boaters are enjoying a peaceful time rowing along. Against the light blue partially clouded sky a flock of birds are in flight. The wood panel is decorated with a gilted chamfered edge. The panel measures 11 3/4" in length and 5 3/4" in width, with a slightly convex shape. I feel the panel was originally taken from a piece of discarded furniture. Wonderful condition with no cracks in the panel; here are some scuffs on the painting which only enhance its' character and appeal. Unsigned by the artist. I have another painted panel in my store with a floral motif probably by the same artist.
