Hand decorated porcelain is beautiful no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or home studio environment. The end result is what really matters.
This beautiful hand painted Limoges chocolate cup & saucer, circa 1910-1915, was expertly created in a home studio. The porcelain form and decorative motif is from the Art Deco, Arts & Crafts era. The chocolate cup and saucer is decorated with tulip blossoms in shaded tones of rich yellow with orange highlights nestled among slender variegated green leaves all delicately outlined with black. The background shades from a creamy yellow to light carmel with gold trim edges and cup handle. The saucer measures 5" across and is unmarked; the cup measures 3 1/8" in height, 2" across the top and is stamped in green "Pat'd April 2d 1907 -JPL - France". The JPL mark designates the Jean Pouyat Limoges Company, circa 1894-1931. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Beautiful.
