Nippon generally refers to Japanese wares made during the period of 1891 to 1921. Nippon, meaning Japan, identified the country of origin to comply with American importation restrictions. Although this beautiful vase is unmarked, I feel confident it is Nippon.
Gorgeous Oriental porcelain hand painted vase, circa 1910. Graceful shape with two delicate arched handles, tapered body, flared neck and base. The front and back is decorated with lush, ripe, red strawberries nestled among variegated green and yellow leaves against a satin moss green background. Each display is surrounded by a narrow gold beaded ribbon with additional gold highlights within the design. The base, sides, handles and neck of the base is a beautiful cobalt blue with gold highlights. The vase measures 8 1/4" in height, and 6" across the widest part. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; some gold wear on the cobalt portion of the vase.
