This lovely sterling silver bead necklace is an excellent example of Mexican craftsmanship, circa 1980. The plain round beads, which are strong on chain, create a simple, yet graceful, single strand necklace with box clasp. The beads measure 1/8mm in size with the necklace having a 16 1/2" length. The clasp is stamped "925 - TM-222 - Mexico". Wonderful vintage condition with no damages.
Circa 1979 a new letter/number mark to indicate the silversmith and sterling standard was introduced in Mexico. The first letter indicates the city/area location "T". The second letter is the first initial of the last name of the silversmith (M). The last number(s) indicates that he is the 222nd silversmith with a last name beginning with that letter to register at the city assay office.
